We're looking for playtesters

A gentle coding game for children who can't read yet.

Little ones guide a character across a meadow by arranging blocks — no words, no winning, no losing. We're building it slowly and carefully, and we'd love your child to help shape it.

Watch a child play

So, what is it?

Place a block. Press play. Watch it move.

Children arrange coloured blocks to tell BÖKS where to go, then press play and watch the little character travel across the meadow.

That's visual programming — sequences, cause and effect, planning ahead, fixing what didn't work — for minds that are still learning to read. The thinking comes first; the words can wait.

Why parents trust it

Screen time you can actually feel good about.

BÖKS is built like a wooden toy, not a slot machine. Every choice is made to keep your child calm, curious and in control.

🍃

Calm by design

Silent until your child touches something. No flashing rewards, no clapping, no glitter bombs — just quiet, unhurried play.

🫧

Nothing to lose

No timers, no fail states, no "game over". If your child pauses to think, BÖKS simply waits — patiently, without judgement.

🧩

Open-ended, not rote

Not flashcards for letters and numbers. BÖKS grows logical thinking, problem solving and imagination instead.

🚫

No ads, ever

A clean, private space to play. Nothing is sold to your child, and nothing interrupts them mid-thought.

Made by hand

A warm narrator, considered design and a world drawn with care — in the spirit of Cubetto, Pok Pok and Monument Valley.

👶

Built for ages 3–6

A simple double-tap to turn a block — chosen over fiddly dragging — so even the smallest hands can play on their own.

What's involved

Simple, free, and genuinely helpful.

The best feedback comes from children just being children. We watch what delights them — and what they happily walk away from.

"BÖKS is made by one independent developer — a parent trying to build the kind of screen time I'd actually feel good about. It started as something small for my own daughter, and now I'd love to make it with other families too."
